First times

First times are never forgotten. Some stay in your memory, others in your sight. Life.

Who doesn’t remember a feeling, an image, a taste, a texture? I clearly remember my first kiss. I remember my first love and the butterflies in my stomach. I remember how I felt seeing my daughters being born, and the look on my loving* face. I remember my first time on a plane. I remember my first day at the residence hall. I remember the taste of my first wine. I remember the first time I saw the sea, the texture of the sand. Memories upon memories. First times.

Yesterday, August 2nd, was one of those first times. The week had been a whirlwind of emotions, and as a culmination, the night before I barely slept. I was a bundle of nerves, overwhelmed by the excitement of seeing my little big dream come true. I lived the entire day with the intensity of knowing I was experiencing something that would never be repeated. First times.

A day to remember. The first photo session of my life project. It was 6 p.m., and we were at a friend’s house, which gave us access to our first location. Nerves on edge. The doorbell rings, and it's the photographer, ready to turn my dream into art. It's impossible to explain the whirlwind of emotions and conflicting feelings. Apocalyptic.
In front of me, my model-friends were walking, loaded with the clothes, and behind me was my loving partner, dodging brambles and jumping over tall grass, all of us ready to give our best. I burst into laughter. Why? Because of everything. Because of what we were about to experience, because of the situation, because of what we had set up. First times.
I remember thinking, "How lucky I am!" Lucky because my dream was coming true, lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people who had selflessly helped me with everything. In that moment, I was completely happy. It was impossible for the outcome to be anything but great. Love combined with professionalism: the result is excellence.

*That's how I lovingly call my love. My life partner. My everything.
